 Riverbanks Zoo and Garden Announces Seasonal Events, Education Programs and Conservation Opportunities

COLUMBIA, S.C., July 2, 2026 —Riverbanks Zoo and Garden invites guests to enjoy a season of events and experiences, from education programs and pollinator initiatives to signature fundraising events. Visitors of all ages can learn, explore and take action to support wildlife and wild places. 
 

“From community-driven initiatives like Toucan Tuesdays to hands-on conservation efforts like our pollinator plant sale, Riverbanks offers meaningful ways for guests to connect with wildlife and make a positive impact,” said Tommy Stringfellow, president and CEO of Riverbanks. “These experiences are designed to inspire action while creating memorable moments for our guests.”

Calendar of Events 

Toucan Tuesdays 

Riverbanks’ Toucan Tuesdays promotion continues every Tuesday this summer through August 11 in partnership with Harvest Hope Food Bank. Guests who donate two nonperishable food items receive buy-one, get-one admission and buy-one, get-one regular-sized ICEEs. Donation bins are available at both the Zoo and Garden entrances, and guests may participate every Tuesday during the campaign. Tickets must be purchased on-site.

Registration for Fall Educational Programs
Registration opens July 15 for fall education programs, offering opportunities for learners of all ages. Families and groups can sign up for Homeschool (Ages 3–11), Zoo Crew (Ages 12–14), Election Day Zoo Camp and Overnight experiences (Elementary to Adults). Pollinator Plant Pack Sale Returns August 1

Pollinator Plant Packs will be available for fall planting beginning August 1. Each pack includes 10 low-maintenance, pollinator-friendly plants (two plants per pot) hand-selected to support local biodiversity and create a vibrant garden space.

Through the Planting with a Purpose initiative, Riverbanks encourages homeowners, businesses, schools, and community groups to make a positive impact on pollinator habitat by incorporating intentional planting practices into their landscapes.

Brew at the Zoo

Friday, August 7, 2026 | 7:00–9:30 p.m. 

Sipping Suds to support wildlife. Returning for its 21st year, Brew at the Zoo will feature more than 100 craft and domestic brews, food trucks, and live music throughout the Zoo. 

Tickets are $70 for Riverbanks members and $80 for the general public. Guests must be 21 or older to attend. Tickets are selling quickly; visit riverbanks.org/events/brew-at-the-zoo
 

Members’ Night Out 

Friday, September 4, 2026 | 6:00–9:00 p.m. 

Riverbanks members are invited to enjoy an exclusive after-hours evening at the Zoo featuring family-friendly activities, opportunities to explore the park after-hours, and special member-only perks.

Riverbanks ZOOfari: A Wild Fundraising Night

Friday, September 18, 2026 | 7:00–10:30 p.m. 

South Carolina's wildest party with a purpose returns to Riverbanks for an evening of cocktails, cuisine, live and silent auctions, and entertainment, all in support of the Zoo's mission of conservation, education, and care. ZOOfari will again feature a zero-waste format designed to reduce the event’s environmental footprint. 

Tickets are $85 for members and $100 for the general public. Member presale begins July 27, with tickets available to the general public beginning August 3.
